Following a shocker from the Punjab and Haryana High Court, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MlA and the leader of opposition in Punjab Vidhan Sabha Sukhpal Khaira on Friday said that he has legal recourse available.
Khaira, whose petition challenging the orders summoning him as an additional accused in a drugs case was dismissed by the High Court, said that he would either file the review petition in the High Court or move the Supreme Court.
“I will move the Supreme Court in this matter. I am not punished yet,” said Khaira in a press conference after the court orders.
“The court has asked me to face trial in Fazilka. I have legal recourse like filing a review petition or moving the Supreme Court,” he said.
On his rivals demanding his resignation, Khaira said that the Congress and Akalis were trying to teach him morality. “I will not resign under any pressure. But if my party ask me to do so, I can think over it,” he said.
AAP leader had moved the High Court on November 3 against a Fazilka court’s order, while describing it as a “classic instance of political vendetta”.
In his petition, he had asserted that an attempt was being made to rope him in as an accused with the aim to tarnish his reputation.
