Haryana Industries and Commerce Minister Vipul Goel, has requested the Central Government to increase Haryana’s share of 1,000 allotted seats under the rural BPO programme to give Digital India initiative a vertical and rural push in the State.
Speaking at the concluding function of the two-day conference held under the chairmanship of the Union Minister, Electronics and Information Technology, Ravi Shankar Prasad, in New Delhi on Tuesday, Goel said should the Centre agrees, the State Government might consider a proposal to provide industrial land in government industrial estates at subsidised rates for setting up rural BPOs in tier 2 and tier 3 cities of the state like Karnal, Jind, Kaithal and others.
Notably, in order to create employment, especially for women, the Government of India provides a grant of Rs 1 lakh per seat if the BPOs are set up in the rural areas or tier 2 and tier 3 cities in a state by entrepreneurs. Speaking on the occasion, Principal Secretary, Elect-ronics and IT, Devender Singh, said Haryana would work vigorously to realise ‘Trillion Dollar Digital Economy’ Vision of India by 2022 and prepare an action plan within 15 days.
