Haryana to set up State-level riot control room

With a section of Jats all set to resume their agitation for job quota in Haryana from June 5, raising fears of recurrence of violence, the Manohar lal Khattar Government on Tuesday announced to set up a State-level riot control room at the Secretariat here.

“Inspector and sub-inspector ranked officers will man the control room round the clock till further orders. It can be reached on 0172-2740390," said a spokesperson of Home Department. Authorities have started mobilising security forces at various places in Haryana following the threat by a section of Jat leaders to renew from June 5 their agitation for reservation in Government jobs and educational institutions under the Backward Class category.

Police personnel and para-military forces have been stationed in sensitive districts like Sonipat, Rohtak, Jhajjar, Jind and Fatehabad to ensure law and order. In Sonipat district, orders have been imposed under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code, prohibiting any Assembly of five or more people at any place.
