Haryana to relax maximum limit of paddy to millers

Published on:

The Haryana Government has decided to relax the maximum limit of 8000 metric tonnes for allotment of paddy to the millers in the State for the forthcoming procurement year 2018-19.

Minister of State for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Karan Dev Kamboj said that this relaxation would be provided to those millers who have not committed any default during the previous years and has deposited the entire amount in the Government treasury.

He said that earlier, maximum limit for allotment of paddy to the mills was fixed as 8000 metric tonnes. In case, if any mill was to  allot paddy more than this limit then after the decision in the district milling committee, its approval was  taken from the Director, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, said he.

The Minister further said that similarly, in view of the default made by the rice millers during the previous years, it has been decided that the rice millers would have to give 75 per cent bank guarantee of total amount of paddy allotted to them during the Kharif year 2018-19.

This would help the State Government to compensate the loss being caused to the exchequer due to default made by rice millers in rice milling. These decisions would be implemented from the forthcoming Kharif Season 2018-19, he added.
