Haryana Irrigation Department will prepare ‘Vision-2025’ draft document to ensure that every single inch of farmer's land is irrigated. “Revolving around farmers' interests, the vision document will focus on the irrigation techniques, water availability, maintenance of the ground water level, water conservation, allocation and schemes for the next 10 years,” said Haryana Irrigation Minister OP Dhankar, while presiding over a review meeting with departmental officers on Wednesday.
He said that due to inclement weather and environmental disturbances, the farmers had to face drought or sometime water shortage. While irrigation resources are limited, the population is increasing by the day. “In order to equip the farmers to cope with future challenges, the officers have been asked to prepare a draft for the next ten years. It would list different activities for every year to move forward step-by-step,” Dhankar said. The Minister also directed the officers to prepare such a vision document as should be unique in the country and serve other States as a model to follow.
