In a bid to promote digital transactions in the state, Haryana Government has decided to make all colleges and universities in the state cashless.
Besides, student volunteers will educate people about using digital payment systems during a special awareness campaign from December 12 to January 12, 2017.
Haryana Education Minister, Ram Bilas Sharma on Friday said that the State Government is making consistent efforts to make the state cashless.
In view of this, the Higher Education Department has prepared an action plan under which teaching and non-teaching staff of colleges and universities would be associated with the cashless payment system. Students would also be motivated to adopt different methods of cashless transactions for payment of fee, withdrawal of scholarship and other transactions, said the Minister.
He said that assistance of units such as NSS and NCC would be sought for making people aware about digital payment systems.
It is the responsibility of the Heads of colleges and universities to make students aware about the systems and then select some students to serve as volunteers. Such students would register on the website www.mhrd.gov.in/visaka till December 14. After that, training would be imparted to these volunteers from December 15 to 20 so that they may educate students in colleges, and other people about digital modes of payment, starting from their own homes, said he.
These volunteers would be assigned particular areas for this purpose. After the campaign ends on January 12, 2017, the volunteers would upload report on their work and experiences on the website of the Department, he added.
