Haryana to link cold store, warehouse with agriculture

Published on:

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar lal on Sunday said the State Government would link cold store and warehouse with agriculture and issue licences even to farmers to enable them to set these up at their farms to keep their produce safe.

This would help increase their income and strengthen their economic condition, said the Chief Minister while speaking after inaugurating a block of 50 shops set up in new Sabzi Mandi at Karnal.

He said, the State Government is a true well wisher of traders and farmers. In order to deal with the problems faced by traders and farmers, the government would spend Rs 216 crore to develop 99 mandis in the state. The mandi in Karnal has been developed on 35 acres of land at a cost of Rs 16 crore, said he.

The Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had implemented the Goods and Services Tax (GST) to create one-nation-one-tax regime.  It is a commendable step. The procedure to implement GST has been under discussion for the last 20 years, but no government took the initiative to implement it, said he.

He also urged the traders to get registered under GST.

The Chief Minister also said that horticulture is being promoted in the state to double the income of farmers. In recent years, the area under horticulture increased by five per cent, but in about three years of the present State Government, the area has increased to 7.58 per cent. The government has established horticulture clusters in 340 villages which have irrigation and other facilities, added he.

later, the Chief Minister inaugurated Kala Samagam Pratiyogita organised by Karnal Municipal Corporation by lighting a lamp and spinning yarn on Charkha.

He tied a red-coloured yarn to a frame which had slogan written on it ‘I promise that from today onwards I would not spread dirt anywhere’ (Main Vachan Deta Hun Ki Aaj Se Kahin Bhi Gandagi Nahi Failaunga).

An artist from Manipur also presented the Chief Minister with his portrait.

The Chief Minister also launched Aajeevika Grameen Express Yojana under the Haryana State Rural livelihoods Mission and handed over keys of TATA Magic and Autos to six families of Gharaunda block. The beneficiaries would have to deposit the amount in five years through equal monthly installments and no interest would be charged.

He said the aim of Deen Dayal Antyodaya Yojana–National Rural livelihood Mission--is to provide alternative employment under the Haryana State Rural livelihoods Mission to members of self- help groups through public transport services in backward rural areas.
