In a bid to resolve the problem of contaminated or polluted water in villages, Haryana Government has decided to implement Seechewal model in 14 villages of Rewari district.
These villages included Khushpura, Rasooli, Gazi Gopalpur, Khizuri, Ibrahimpur, Bas, Bisowa, Thothwalka, Khadagwas, Chhuriawas, Jatuwas, Aakera, Kapariwas and Bairiyawas, said a spokesman of Haryana Panchayati Raj Department.
He said that the contaminated water in these villages would be treated by using Seechewal model of Punjab and taken to the fields after filtering the same. The sub divisional engineer, Panchayati Raj of Rewari and Gurugram districts visited Punjab last month and carried out a detailed study of the model and later sought approval to implement it in district Rewari, said he.
Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal of Punjab was the first to work for the purification of contaminated or polluted water. Former President, late APJ Abdul Kalam had also appreciated his work in this direction, said the spokesman.
He said that the Seechewal model is now going to prove as a boon for district Rewari and people are taking keen interest in this model. Efforts are being made for the effective implementation of this model which requires less space and cost. The result of this model would soon be visible, he added.
The spokesman further said that Seechewal model would be set up in those villages where gram panchayat would make available land far from the village.
The contaminated water released from the houses which usually accumulated at different places would be got accumulated at a single place by using the model and purified. Normally, the Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) of contaminated water ranges between 150 mg per liter to 300 mg per liter. But with the use of Seechewal technique, the BOD level of the water would come down considerably between 18 mg per liter to 20 mg per liter, which is appropriate for agriculture, he added.
