In a bid to achieve aim of ‘Har Khet Ko Pani’, Haryana Government’s constituted Command Area Development Authority would execute a pilot project for installation of solar grid powered micro irrigation infrastructure.

This would be installed  on three Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) of ladwa, Shahabad and Pehowa in district Kurukshetra for utilising treated water for irrigation. A sum of Rs 3.65 crore would be spent under this project, said an official spokesman.

He said that the farmers of the area who would be benefited from this water, have already formed Water User Associations and have also given an undertaking to the effect that their area, to be covered under this project, is not covered by any canal command and they are willing to adopt this technology.

The spokesman said that the new area would be brought under irrigation with optimum utilisation of the available surplus water and the project would encourage use of micro irrigation technologies.

It would lead to saving of power and diesel for farmers, and increase in yield as nutrient rich water would be supplied. The water, which was otherwise going waste, would be put to proper use and no land acquisition would be involved, he added.

He said that on the directions of the Chief Minister Manohar lal, the Command Area Development Authority has initiated a pilot project for utilising surplus water from overflowing ponds in the villages.

The sedimentation chamber would be constructed to separate out the coarse sediments thereby providing clear water. This project would save the villages from various diseases arising out of the overflowing and accumulated water, said the spokesman.

The total cost of the project is Rs 16.68 crore and 50 villages of 10 districts would be covered under this project, he added.
