Haryana Government has decided to conduct a survey for gathering information regarding property tax according to a single prescribed format throughout the State.

Haryana Urban local Bodies Minister Kavita Jain on Thursday said that the orders were issued to urban local bodies concerned with a view to remove the technical obstacles before providing the facility of online payment of property tax in urban areas of the State.

Directions in this regard were issued to all the Commissioner of Municipal Corporations and all the executive officer/Secretary of Municipal Councils/Committees in the State.

She said that during the survey, the contractor agency would gather information regarding colonies, sectors and societies in the prescribed format and also issue online code for them. Survey of buildings would be carried out during mapping of colonies and streets, she added.

She said that web-based data would be prepared after numbering of vacant plots, residential, commercial institutes and industrial institutes.

Notably, to bring transparency in its functioning, the Haryana Urban local Bodies Department would soon introduce online facility for paying property tax. For this purpose, the digitalization of information of property owners and their related details has been initiated in Municipal Corporations. This data would be soon made online to provide relief to the general public from the trouble of standing in long queues for getting their property tax deposited.

Each property falling under urban local bodies’ institutions would be issued with unique identification number through which online complete information could be drawn from anywhere.

Apart from this, the citizens would be at the liberty to use the tool of self assessment and would be accordingly able to pay their tax online. The service would be integrated with payment gateway and citizens would be having an option of part payment also. They would be able to view the arrears of tax online with the help of their unique identification number.
