A livestock census would be conducted in the state to count the cattle heads in Haryana, said Principal Secretary, Haryana Animal Husbandry and Dairying Department, Abhilaksh likhi.

He held a review meeting with officers of the Department of Ambala division on Wednesday.

“Haryana has 18.08 lakhs cattle. Out of total cattle population, 8.12 lakhs are indigenous cattle and 9.96 lakhs are exotic/cross bred cattle,” as per the 2012 livestock census.
