The Congress Government in Haryana has ordered CBI probe against senior IAS officer and whistleblower Ashok Khemka, for alleged irregularities in awarding Rs 8 crore deal to a Gujarat-based firm when he was Managing Director of the State Warehousing Corporation in 2009.
Haryana Chief Secretary SC Choudhary said the State Government has decided for CBI inquiry in the allegations made by Ravinder Kumar in the matter of allotment of work to an Ahmedabad based company for installing galvalume roofing sheets on warehouses by Khemka. The Chief Secretary said that the complaint which was received on August 9, last year had been forwarded to the Agriculture Department which had prima facie found truth in the allegations and recommended independent probe. The complainant Ravinder Kumar had also demanded probe by CBI.
Hence, the State Government has decided to handover the probe to CBI, the chief secretary said in his statement. Khemka, an IAS officer of the 1991 batch, hit the headlines after he cancelled the mutation of Rs 58 crore land deal between UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law Robert Vadra and realty giant DlF in 2012. Khemka had also ordered an inquiry into the undervaluation of land deals done in four districts in Haryana, adjoining New Delhi, by Vadra. Since then the State Government has opened a front against him and had earlier issued a charge sheet against Khemka for “wrongly” cancelling the mutation.
Khemka is expected to make his stand public in a day or two.
