Haryana Transport Department on Saturday suspended Haryana Roadways Sub-inspector (SI) for allegedly thrashing bus conductor with slippers for demanding his wife’s ticket in a Haryana Roadways bus.
Haryana Transport Minister Mool Chand Sharma told the Pioneer that this incident occurred about five days ago. Soon after the incident came into light Haryana Roadways Director General Virendra Kumar Dahiya was directed to take action after conducting an inquiry over this issue.
Sources in the Transport Department said that sub-inspector Rajveer and his wife got into a Haryana Roadways bus at Ambala. When Anil Kumar, the conductor of Haryana Roadways asked for tickets, sub-inspector Rajveer and his wife became angry and furious. Arguments on this matter went on for a long time along the way. However, other passengers sitting in the bus have somehow managed to pacify the matter. As soon as the bus reached Tribune Chowk, Chandigarh, both of them got down and called the conductor and started beating them with slippers.
On this, Bus Conductor Anil Kumar registered a complaint at the local police station, Sector 31 Chandigarh and the transport department. Chandigarh Police said that investigation is on. Haryana Roadways Director General called the accused SI to record his statement over this matter.
The accused accepted his mistake and the DG on Saturday suspended him with immediate effect.
