Haryana Roadways: Joint panel to be formed soon

Published on:

Under pressure of Haryana Roadways employees’ unions, the State  transport department has started the process of constituting a joint committee of Cabinet Ministers and union leaders to solve the demands of the union.

Abhay Singh Yadav, director general of transport department said a joint committee will be finalized within a week. All the seven Haryana roadways employees unions under the banner of ‘Taal mel committee (co-ordination committee)’ had put the whole State on halt for two days during their complete ‘Chakka Jam’ strike of all Haryana Roadways buses on November 13-14.

Haryana transport minister Aftab Ahmad had to call an emergency meeting of all senior officials and union leaders. It was decided that state government would constitute a joint committee of three cabinet ministers and seven union leaders to solve the demands of roadways employees.  But after a month, nothing could be done in this direction. Meanwhile, Haryana Roadways employees again started making strategy to intensify their agitation.

Roadways employees are still stuck with their 15 demands, including their three most important demands. These include studying the previous distributed 923 bus permits to the private bus operators, cancellation of new stage carriage scheme 2013 in which State Government decided to give 3519 permits to the private bus operators and increase the numbers of 4500 proposed buses by the state government, which seems insufficient to cater more than 2.5 crore people of Haryana.

Haryana Roadways Employees have convened a joint meeting of all seven roadways employees unions under the banner of ‘Taalmel Committee’ at Rohtak on December 25 for further course of action.
