The Haryana Government has re-launched the voluntary disclosure scheme-2017 for declaring defective meters and meters that have been tampered with, for all categories of consumers having current metre load of up to 20 KW in the State.

The scheme will remain in force till May 31. Following the conclusion of the scheme, a special drive would be launched for detection of electricity theft, said a spokesman of the Haryana Power Utilities.

The Voluntary Disclosure Scheme-2016 had concluded on January 31, 2017.

He said that under the scheme, the consumers could install new meter on payment of their outstanding bills without any penalty by voluntarily declared tampering or defect of their meter.

He said that last year, the VDS scheme was launched for all categories of consumers having sanctioned load up to five KW. Keeping in view the fruitful outcome of this scheme, the same scheme has now been launched for all categories of consumers having sanctioned load of 20 KW, the spokesman said.

Giving details of the new scheme, he said that after giving information of the tampered meter, the consumers would have to supply the electronic energy meter of empanelled firm purchased from the market and pay the outstanding bill. After the payment and new meter are deposited, the Sub-Divisional Engineer would install meter within three days after getting it tested from M&T lab.

He said that power bills of maximum last one year at normal rates based on sanctioned load or MDI recorded, whichever is higher, would be recovered from such consumers.
