A large part of Haryana faced severe power and drinking water crisis on the second consecutive day on Wednesday due to the three-day strike by employees unions.
Major disruption of electricity was found not only in rural Haryana but also urban areas. There was no electricity and drinking water in Karnal, Kurkushetra, Hisar, Jind, Rohtak, Bhiwani, Ambala, Sirsa etc. Devender Singh Hooda, president of All Haryana Power Corporation Workers' Union told The Pioneer that their employees are not responsible for the disruption of electricity in the State.
"The rough weather is responsible for this blackout. 34,000 electricity employees out of 37,000 are on strike, there is no man to repair the disrupted electricity," said Hooda. Dharamvir Phogat president of the Sarv Karamchari Sangh Haryana reiterated that they would not call off the strike, until the State Government comes on talking table. "Our demands are genuine and the Government should take care of it. If the people are suffering due to non-supply of essential services, our families too are suffering with it," said Phogat.
