Haryana Police to question Cong MLA for role in Nuh Violence: Vij

Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij on Tuesday said the Haryana Police will question Congress MLA Mamman Khan in the Nuh violence case asserting that the investigations, so far, have indicated that he was in contact with certain people who were involved in the violence.

Talking to reporters on the sidelines of the last day of the Monsoon Session of the Haryana Assembly, Vij, elaborating on Mamman Khan’s role, said, “He posted a post on Facebook that read ‘I fought your fight in the assembly also, and I am with you in this fight too’”.

Along with Khan, the Home Minister also attacked the Congress party. “Several people who have been arrested also have links with Congress. Those who indulged in vandalism are Congress workers or office bearers", he alleged.   Vij said that the police have so far arrested 510 people and registered 130-140 FIRs in the case. He also alleged that there are evidences against Congress MLA Mamman Khan which suggests he visited the areas where violence took place.

MLA Mamman Khan has been called for interrogation by police on August 30, he said.  Vij also pointed out that during Bhupinder Singh Hooda’s tenure as chief minister, there were incidents of violence in Nuh at least seven to eight times. He said, “Congress has yet not given any answer to why those violent incidents took place. It is their political gimmick”.

The minister said the state police department took action and force was deployed as it is deployed every year, “but this time it was a very big conspiracy”. “Our police are probing the matter and we have full faith in our officers. Their report will come, if people have any objection, then we shall see whether to consider the judicial inquiry or not”.

Speaking about alleged cow vigilante Monu Manesar, Vij said, “Efforts are being made to arrest him. Once he is in custody, he shall also be questioned. If he has also committed some wrong, action shall be taken against him, too”.
