Haryana Police, which is yet to nab all the culprits in Ballabhgarh lynching incident, has increased the reward for information about culprits involved in the alleged lynching of Junaid Khan, from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 2 lakh.

The State Police on Monday announced to double the reward for information on the identities of those involved in the killing of a Muslim youth inside a train near Ballabgarh in Haryana on June 22, said an official spokespersons.

He said any person having information about the culprits could inform the Haryana railway police chief, the Faridabad Railway Additional Deputy Chief and the Faridabad GRP station house officer.

“The police will provide a reward of Rs 2 lakh to the person helping it to identify the culprits,” the spokesman said.

The identity of the person providing the information will be kept a secret, he added.

The police has so far arrested five persons in connection with the killing of 17-year-old Junaid onboard the Delhi-Mathura passenger train between Ballabgarh and Mathura stations on June 22.

Junaid was stabbed to death while his brothers, Hashim and Sakir, were injured by a mob which also allegedly hurled slurs against them. His brothers said the attackers had taunted and repeatedly called them “anti-nationals” and “beef eaters”. The survivors of the attack said that the murderous mob had more than 15 people.

The police had earlier announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh to anyone giving credible information leading to arrest of the accused in the case.

The incident had triggered a nation-wide outrage with opposition parties accusing the ruling BJP for deteriorating law and order situation in Haryana and killings in the name of cow protection.

A day before, All India Congress Committee in-charge communication and Haryana MlA Randeep Singh Surjewala had met the injured brother of Junaid and other family members at village Khandawali in Faridabad and demanded strict action against the culprits responsible for killing of Junaid.
