As many as 41,175 nominations have so far been received for the third phase of Haryana panchayat polls to be held on January 24.
Haryana State Election Commissioner, Rajeev Sharma on Tuesday said that 3,837 nominations were received for Member Panchayat Samiti, of which 2,426 were filed by men and 1,411 by women. Similarly, 10,868 nominations have been received for Sarpanches, including 6,759 men and 4,109 women, and 26,470 nominations were received for the post of panches.
Notably, 25,404 candidates will be contesting elections on 9,376 seats during the second phase of elections to be held on January 17. After the unanimous election of 12,903 panches, 86 sarpanches, some candidates of 42 panchayat samitis and after vacant posts of 685 post of panches, one of panchayat samiti and two of sarpanches, election for the second phase will be held for 141 wards of Zila Parishads, 956 wards out of 999 wards of panchayat samitis, 1882 posts of Sarpanches out of 1970 and 6,538 posts out of 20,126 post of panches.
