While the Manohar lal Khattar Government in Haryana held a lavish closing ceremony of the year-long golden jubilee celebrations of the State at Hisar on Tuesday, the opposition parties have launched a vitriolic attack on the ruling BJP, accusing it of indulging in corruption and misusing public money.
The opposition parties, Indian National lok Dal and Congress have alleged that the BJP-led Haryana Government is involved in a huge scam of `1700 crore, which was earmarked for State’s golden jubilee (swarna jayanti) year schemes.
leader of opposition in Haryana and INlD’s senior leader Abhay Singh Chautala has accused the State Government of indulging in corruption in spending `1700 crore during the celebrations of state’s golden jubilee year while the former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has raised questions on the need for the mega celebration held at Mahavir Stadium in Hisar terming it as “misuse of public money”.
The two-time former Chief Minister and senior Congress leader, Hooda while dubbing the Hisar function as an “event management and entertainment show” of BJP Government said that it is a serious matter of misuse of public money.
Thousands of crores of rupees have been announced to be spent on various swarna jayanti schemes, which has nothing to do with the welfare of people of Haryana, he alleged.
lashing out at the government, Hooda said, “Instead of gloating about government’s achievements by spending so much money, the BJP Government should have spent it for development works.”
He also questioned the absence of BJP MPs from Haryana and other senior party leaders, at the Tuesday’s event, which was attended by Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu as a chief guest.
The mega event at Hisar was attended by Haryana Governor, Chief Minister and Cabinet Ministers besides a host of celebrities and religious heads.
leader of opposition in Haryana Assembly, Abhay Singh Chautala has also launched a blistering attack on the Khattar Government over the celebrations asking what was the need of spending `1700 crore of public money to glorify Chief Minister’s image.
Accusing BJP Government of massive corruption, the INlD leader said, “If an inquiry is being done into how `1700 crore has been spent, many people would go to jail. If INlD comes to power in Haryana, we will ensure that a probe is conduced into this.”
Chautala added that the name of former deputy Prime Minister late Chaudhary Devi lal, who is also his grandfather, was not highlighted by the government even though he had a major contribution in the creation of Haryana.
Continuing his tirade against the BJP-led State Government, he said that the ruling party has failed on all fronts even then the Chief Minister has been boasting in public about his Government’s achievements during the last three years.
Haryana Congress chief Ashok Tanwar has also hit out at the Haryana Government alleging that the ruling BJP is misusing public money and favoring few people by giving them event management related works for such celebrations.
While the state is celebrating its golden jubilee year, corruption by BJP Government has become a blot on Haryana, he said.
Haryana state was formed on 1 November 1966. The state was carved out of the former state of East Punjab on linguistic basis.
The year-long golden jubilee celebrations in Haryana had begun with a mega event at Gurugram on November 1, 2016, which was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. At that time, the Chief Minister had announced that more than 50 schemes would be launched throughout the next year and more than `1700 crore would be spent on swarna jayanti schemes.
During the past one year celebrations that concluded on Tuesday, the State has witnessed launching of various schemes and a series of events including a national youth festival, Bharat Kesari Dangal, Haryana Sahitya Sangam, Haryana MSME Sammelan, Haryana Parvasi Divas among others.
