Keeping in view the serial bomb blasts at Patna in Bihar, Haryana police has beefed up security arrangements across the State and put it on high alert ahead of Diwali festival on November 3.

Chairing a meeting with all Police Commissioners, Range Inspector Generals of Police and Superintendents of Police through videoconferencing,  Haryana Director General of Police, SN Vashisth on Tuesday asked them to make special arrangements to ensure safety of the people in all the markets and other crowded places.

“Special arrangements are being put in routine exercise for checking explosive substance in crowded areas besides setting up barricades on all suspicious places. Police Patrolling is also being increased to regulate the traffic and avoid any untoward incident on this special occasion. The Police Control Room vans have been asked for special night patrolling”, said Vashisth.

The DGP added that police would remain more vigilant about safety of women during the festival season so that incidents like chain snatching or eve teasing could also be averted. He said that directions have been issued to police officers concerning storage and sale of crackers. They would ensure that crackers are sold only by licenced holders.
