The three-day strike called by Haryana Karamchari Taalmel Samiti evoked a mixed response in Rohtak, Jhajjar and Sonepat districts on the second day on Wednesday. No untoward incident reported in all the three districts.
Employees of Power Corporation, Irrigation and Public-Health Department observed a complete strike leading to disruption in power and water supply for several hours. However, employees of the Haryana Roadways stayed away from the strike and discharged their duty as usual. All buses in all the three districts plied on their routes as per their schedule.
The power department was affected badly due to the strike where around two thousand employees remained on strike consecutively on the second day. In Jhajjar, though the Deputy Commissioner Ajit Balaji Joshi visited the power station last night to check the possibility of power disruption owing to the strike and made necessary arrangements to ensure uninterrupted power supply but power supply remained off through out the day in Ambedkar Chowk, Bikaner Chowk and Bhathi Gate area in Jhajjar due to the strike.
Similarly, people of Roop Nagar, Gohana Road, Sanjay Nagar, Chaman Pura, Chunni Pura, Palace Vihar, Anand Pura localities in Rohtak had to bear the burnt of strike as power remained off around 24 hours. On the other hand, employees’ unions affiliated with Sarva Karamchari Sangh (SKS) organised protest demonstration at different places of the district. Employees of Power Corporation and Public Health Department shouted slogans against the state government outside their offices.
The police authorities had also made adequate arrangement in Rohtak,Jhajjar and Sonepat district to prevent any untoward incident during the strike. Police personnel in sufficient numbers were deputed at every government department to maintain law and order situation. Several policemen in civil dress were also roaming in the city to keep a tab on the employees on strike.
