Haryana Public Works (Buildings and Roads) Minister, Rao Narbir Singh on Tuesday said that 28 sites have been identified for installing ‘Swaran Jayanti’ gates at entry points into the State during the golden jubilee year of Haryana.
The main gate would be installed on the Delhi-Gurgaon road, said the Minister while talking to the mediapersons.
These gates would be constructed from materials such as steel instead of cement and concrete, so that the material could be reused after the gates are dismantled, he said.
About the construction of roads in the State, he said that the department would construct 5,600km roads in 2016-17, for which the tender process is underway. Construction and repair work was carried out on about 4,700km roads last year. After the work is completed as per the schedule for 2016-17, there would be no such road in the State which had not been repaired, he added.
Rao Narbir said that wherever the Government could not acquire land for four-laning of roads, for which minimum 45 metres are required, land would be bought at a rate 10 to 15 per cent less than the market or collector rate and the road would be constructed. Replying to a question related to toll plazas, he said that toll booths have been removed at five places.
