Haryana Housing Board chief attacks INlD MlA

Hitting back at the INlD, which has announced to begin digging of Sutlej Yamuna link (SYl) canal from February 23, the ruling BJP on Friday released a video of an INlD leader while campaigning for SAD for the recently held Punjab Assembly polls.

Chairman of Haryana Housing Board Jawahar Yadav, who is also Chief Minister Manohar lal Khattar’s close aide has released a video of former INlD MlA Rampal Majra, where he is seen addressing a public meeting in support of SAD candidate in Punjab.

The SAD had fought the 2014 Haryana Assembly elections in alliance with the INlD but the latter had snapped ties with SAD last year over SYl issue. The SAD-BJP alliance in Punjab had announced not to “allow a single drop of water” to be taken from the State.

The emotive SYl issue had taken the centre-stage, raising the political temperature in both Punjab and Haryana after the announcement of Assembly polls in Punjab. All political parties in Punjab had raised the SYl issue during the electioneering.

However, the INlD had announced that the party would not campaign for their former alliance partners, SAD and BJP in Punjab, where assembly polls held on February 4. The INlD also had an alliance with the BJP in Haryana but the alliance ended after their dismal performance in lok Sabha polls 2009.

Jawahar Yadav while talking to the mediapersons alleged that on one hand, the INlD campaigned for the SAD candidates and on the other hand, they are levelling allegations against the BJP on SYl issue.

The INlD is betraying the people of Haryana by playing politics on SYl issue, he said.

The INlD has announced to start digging the SYl canal in Ambala if the Centre fails to do so by February 23. The party is organizing Jan  Jagran Abhiyan across the state to garner the support of the people on the SYl issue and urging them  to reach Ambala on February 23, to start digging the SYl canal.

Meanwhile, the leader of Opposition and INlD’s senior leader Abhay Singh Chautala while speaking at Ellenabad on Friday said that it is since so many decades that Haryana is fighting to get justice on water sharing issue.

With SC’s decision in Haryana’s favour in November, the government should have ensured that the state gets its water share from Punjab at the earliest but the BJP government has failed to do so, said the INlD leader.

He condemned both the BJP and Congress and accused both the parties of "double speak" over the SYl issue.

The INlD has also announced to stage a dharna at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on February 15 if the Prime Minister Narendra Modi does not give an appointment to the party to meet on the SYl issue.

last month, the INlD had submitted a memorandum to Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki, demanding dismissal of the Khattar led BJP Government  for its alleged failure in performing the constitutional responsibility and failing to bring SYl waters to the state after Supreme Court’s ruling in Haryana’s favour.
