Haryana Govt to name sports complexes in name of martyrs

Published on:
The Haryana Government has decided that sports complexes in the State would be named after the martyrs Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev.
Now, no stadium can be named after any other person’s name in the State, said Haryana Sports and Health Minister, Anil Vij on Monday.
Referring to a demand in this regard, Vij said former Uttar Pradesh CM, ND Tiwari had demanded that sports stadium of Beri would be named after his father-in-law Prof Sher Singh. He said the Government had already decided that all stadiums would be named after the names of martyrs. Therefore, this decision cannot be changed, he added. During the Haryana Assembly Session in March, Vij had proposed to change the name of ‘Rajiv Gandhi Khel Parisars’ in the State. The issue had triggered off heated exchanges between the BJP and Congress legislatures.
Meanwhile, taking a dig on the statement of former Speaker, Kuldeep Sharma regarding boxer  Vijender Singh,  Vij said Sharma had been suffering from some disease in which the suffering person assumed right as wrong and vice-versa. Sharma had made a statement that boxer Vijender has quit playing due to wrong sports policy of the present BJP Government. Vijender was himself present when the policy was framed and had praised the new sports policy many a times, he said.
