Haryana Government will explore the possibilities of generating energy from liquid waste in the urban areas of the State.
“This will also help in tackling the problem caused by silt collected in sewerage,” said Haryana Urban local Bodies Minister, Kavita Jain, who visited Simkent in Kazakhstan’s Almaty city.
Jain, who led a delegation to Kazakhstan, was shown this technique at a plant where a team of Ekalog Blue and Green Technology explained the process of generating electricity by collecting high levels of methane gas from the sediment and liquid collected in the sewerage.
The Minister desired that this technique should also be implemented in the state. like solid waste, liquid waste, especially sewerage silt disposal, posed a major problem at the global level, and India has limited options for disposal of the liquid waste, she added.
After seeing functioning of the Methane Gas Plant and liquid Garbage, Jain called it a better option and said the Haryana Government would soon weigh this option.
For the disposal of solid waste, Haryana has been divided into 15 clusters and work is apace on this project. The government is setting up a plant to prepare energy, compost and biogas from garbage as per the requirement of various clusters, she said.
“Now, during our visit to Poland and Kazakhstan, information has been obtained on better techniques to solve the problem of solid and liquid waste. We shall take advantage of it to solve the problem of the citizens of the state”, she added.
Principal Secretary, Urban local Bodies, Anand Mohan Sharan, and Director, Urban local Bodies Department, Shekhar Vidhyarthi, were also present on this occasion.
