Haryana Chief Minister Manohar lal on Wednesday said that the stock limit of retailers has been reduced to control the increasing prices of pulses and to put a check on hoarding.
He said that in case if any retailer is found keeping stock of pulses more than the prescribed limit; he would invite action under the Haryana Prevention of Hoarding and Maintenance of Quality Order, 1977. A decision to this effect was taken in a meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister here.
The Chief Minister said that earlier, the prescribed stock limit of pulses manufacturers (Mills) was 2,000 quintals which has now been reduced to 1/24th of annual grinding capacity for raw material and 1/48th of annual grinding capacity for finished material.
Similarly, the limit of dealers including wholesalers, distribution agents and seller agents has been reduced from 500 quintals to 250 quintals and of retailers from 50 quintals to 25 quintals.
It was decided in the meeting that all the Deputy Commissioners in the State would be issued directions to constitute a checking team at district level headed by an HCS officer and District Marketing Promotion Officer and District Food and Supplies Controller or District Food and Supplies Officer as its Members. These teams would extensively check stock holdings of all types of pulses in their respective districts to ensure that manufacturers, dealers and retailers have not stored more stock than the prescribed limit.
It was also decided in the meeting that the Daal-Roti Scheme would continue as such under which 2.5 kilogram pulses would be distributed to all BPl families in the State at a rate of Rs 20 per kg from July to September, 2015. After this, pulses for the
next three months would soon be provided.
It was also decided that HAFED would purchase pulses from market and supply the same at fair prices through its retail centres in various districts and retail centres of other government departments so as to put a check on increasing prices of pulses and to ensure that the consumers get pulses at reasonable prices.
