Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Sunday said there was a plan to take up a number of tourism projects in Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode in the State. He said his Government’s Tourism Policy-2008 provided a major thrust to tourism promotion. A new Institute of Hotel Management was being set up at village Bhamboli, Yamuna Nagar and was likely to be inaugurated in 2015.

While speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the second convention of Hotel and Restaurant Association of Northern India (HRANI), he said the State Government has recognised the potential of tourism sector as a major engine of economic growth and a catalyst of employment generation.  “Projects proposed to be taken up under the PPP model by the State Government include an amusement park at Tilyar lake Rohtak, heritage hotel in the forts of Mahendergarh and an integrated tourist resort at Madhogarh. The Government has commissioned prestigious convention centres at Surajkund, Tilyar lake, Rohtak and Bhiwani. The work on the convention centre at Hodal and Dharuhera had been completed and an ultra-modern convention centre will be open to tourists and visitors at Red Bishop Tourist Complex, Panchkula in the month of December this year,” he informed.

To further increase the tourism potential, Panipat-Kurukshetra-Pinjore Circuit is being developed as an integrated tourist circuit. Many important projects were in the pipeline such as tourist friendly adventure camping sites at Dundahera, Surajkund, Damdama, Dharuhera and Hodal. Besides, a facelift is being given to the existing tourist complexes by constructing new rooms and providing latest facilities. “At present, 42 tourist complexes are being run by Haryana Tourism Corporation, which provides modern conveniences to all visitors and tourists.” he added.
