Haryana Govt hits back at Opp on State finances

Published on:

Under fire after releasing the white paper on State finances, the Haryana Government on Wednesday termed the statements issued by Opposition parties as “hollow and false claims”. Haryana Finance Minister, Capt Abhimanyu on Wednesday said that Opposition parties are issuing wrong statements on ‘white paper on State finances’ merely to mislead people without realising that it is only facts and figures which presents the true financial condition of the State.

The BJP-led State Government had on Monday released the white paper on State finances claiming that it has inherited an ailing and debt-laden economy with coffers virtually empty.  On the other hand, the State Congress had termed the white paper as bundle of lies. Capt Abhimanyu, in a statement issued on Wednesday, said that white paper is an official document based on facts which should become the base of future discussions and deliberations to provide right direction to policy formation.

He said that this initiative of the BJP Government to release the white paper was not to be vindictive but to make the people aware about the true financial condition of the State. Why the previous State Government could not have the courage to release white paper on State financesIJ, questioned the Minister. Regarding those who have been giving statements related to white paper, Capt Abhimanyu said that this fair assessment is like a bitter truth for opposition leaders and such leaders should introspect and face the reality. Citing the famous Hindi proverb ‘Chor Ki Dadhi Mein Tinka’, he said that Opposition leaders are unable to elaborate or pin point what is wrong in the white paper.

Reacting to the leaders who have named the white paper as black paper, he said that these leaders consider themselves as experienced and intellectuals whereas the people of the State fully understand that the State was in the hands of such leaders for the last ten years leading to this financial mismanagement. The present Government would endeavour to bring back the derailed economy on right track. Corruption would be completely eliminated and honesty would be imbibed in the work culture, he added.
