Haryana Govt flays Punjab Govt again

Published on:

A day after showing strong objection over Punjab Government’s advertisement naming Chandigarh International Airport as Mohali International Airport, Haryana Government continued to lash out at the neighbouring State Government on the issue.

Senior Haryana Minister Anil Vij while talking to the mediapersons on Friday said that the issue is serious and whatever the Punjab Government did was wrong.

lashing out at the SAD-BJP Government in Punjab, Vij said, “They have demoted the standard of an international airport by naming it on Mohali’s city name.”

Vij also demanded that there should be an entrance to the Chandigarh International Airport from city’s side as people are facing inconvenience to enter from Mohali side.

A day before, the much-awaited appearance of Chandigarh on the international aviation map was marked by a controversy over the name of the airport.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar lal Khattar had raised strong objection to Punjab claiming the airport to be as “Mohali” international airport and shot off a demi-official letter to his Punjab counterpart Parkash Singh Badal.

Earlier, Haryana had maintained that it will have no objection if the Chandigarh international airport was named after Shaheed Bhagat Singh after demand was raised from various quarters including from the legendary martyr’s kin in this regard.
