In an attempt to give an image makeover to the BJP led Haryana Government that has taken a beating in recent times, the State Government has laid out a strict code of behavior for Government officers.
Haryana Government on Wednesday issued instructions on extending proper courtesy to citizens while public dealing in various government departments. It has been directed that all replies to the citizens shall invariably begin with the use of word ‘Sir/Madam’ as the case may be. The officers should extend proper courtesy to citizens as extension of minimum basic courtesy to the citizens is an integral part of ‘Good Governance’, said a spokesman of Administrative Reforms Department.
In a written communication addressed to all Heads of Departments, the State Government has directed that as citizens approach various organisations of the Government for their individual or public matters, all such communications should receive careful consideration and should be responded to at an appropriate level and expeditiously. The spokesman said that the Government employees/ officers have also been urged that while replying to communications of the citizens, all Government officers and officials should show due courtesy and consideration.
The name, designation, telephone number, fax number and e-mail, wherever applicable, of the officer signing the communication should be indicated in the communication.
The spokesman added that the government officers have also been urged to bring these instructions to the notice of all concerned for strict compliance.
