The Haryana Government has announced to observe holiday in all Government and non-Government schools in the State on January 22. An official spokesperson said that on January 22, Prime Minister Narendra Modi would launch the national programme ‘Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao’ in Panipat to sensitise the people about the safety and education of the girl child, skewed sex ratio, prevention of female foeticide and women empowerment.
A holiday would be observed in all the government and non-government schools on this day, he added. He said that on the occasion, teachers and students would actively participate in various activities likes rally, competitions, speech, exhibition, etc being organised at village, block, district and State-level to sensitise the society about the declining sex ratio.
