The Haryana Government has received a pat on its back from the Centre for the success in its immunisation programme for children and women under Mission Indradhanush.

“I have received an appreciation letter from the Union Ministry of Health and Family Planning stating that in the comparative study of Mission Indradhanush of various States, the performance of Haryana has been found laudable,” said the state Health Minister Anil Vij on Thursday.

He said that to make this Mission more effective, suggestions of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Planning would be sought so that maximum children and women could be benefited.

“Under the first two phases of this ambitious programme, more than 2.25 lakh children and pregnant women have been immunized. The third phase of Mission Indradhanush would be conducted from June 7 to 13 in which the left out children and pregnant women would be covered,” he said.

In the first two phases of this campaign, 1.80 lakh children and about 46,000 women were immunised.

Under Mission Indradhanush, diseases like diphtheria, whooping cough, tuberculosis, polio, measles, pneumonia and meningitis are treated with vaccination.

The Health Minister said that the vaccination facility for children is available at all Primary Health Centres, Community Health Centres and General Hospitals in the State. He urged all the NGOs, schools and colleges to come forward to make this campaign a success.
