Haryana Finance Minister, Capt Abhimanyu on Friday lashed out at the Congress for opposing the implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST) system from July 1 onwards.

The Finance Minister, while interacting with mediapersons in Rohtak, said that all political parties had extended their support for the implementation of the simplified taxation system in the country.

lashing out at Haryana former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda for opposing GST regime, the Finance Minister said, “Hooda is issuing baseless remarks as he does not have complete knowledge of GST. I urge Hooda to first fill the gaps in his knowledge.”

Hooda has raised apprehensions about the implementation of the GST. Hooda had said that the country is heading towards inspector raj.

While staging a dharna in support of traders and industrialists against the GST, the two-time former Chief Minister had recently said that the original draft of the GST was prepared by the UPA, but the BJP made several changes to it.

Meanwhile, the Finance Minister Capt Abhimanyu said that as many as 18 meetings were organised in the country for implementation of GST. Voting was not required in these meetings as all decisions were taken with the agreement and help of all political parties,” he added.

Replying to a question, he said the decision to implement GST was taken unanimously by all parties including the Congress party.

Capt Abhimanyu hailed the GST system and described it as a simple tax which would unify and improve the economy through the creation of ‘One Country, One Market’.

He added that the launch of the GST system by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at midnight would be a historic moment which would take India to greater heights.
