Following the commencement of paddy procurement season in Haryana, the State Government on Wednesday enforced the Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA) for a period of six months prohibiting the employees of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Department from goinng on strike.
The orders were issued by state Chief Scretary's office.
An official spokesman said that the decision has been taken in view of the fact that any strike in the Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Department would adversely affect vital agricultural activities. It will also hit services and implementation of important schemes which are essential and time-bound, weather-based activities and services to the community at large, he said.
Earlier, the State Government had in June enforced the ESMA in Haryana for six months prohibiting the employees of Power Department to go on strike.
