Amid the controversy over refusal of admission to children belonging to economically weaker section (EWS) by private schools in the State, Haryana Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma on Friday clarified that the draw of lots for admissions would be conducted soon. The Education Minister presided over a meeting of officers of School Education Department in this regard.
After the meeting, Haryana Government also issued detailed guidelines regarding definition of the term meritorious for admissions under relevant Rule of Haryana School Education Rules 2003 in all private schools in the state. The draw of lots for these classes, were scheduled to be held on April 18 but was suspended by the Government due to confusion on the condition of merit of the applicants. More than 50,000 students were affected due to this in the State.
