Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Tuesday said that due to the government taking stringent steps to tighten the noose around illegal miners, a revenue amount of Rs. 4660 crores has been earned from mining and this figure is estimated to be increased by Rs. 4800 crores by the end of this year.
Taking a jibe at Congress, he said that at the time of Congress this figure was only Rs. 1267 crore. Congress thinks we should not compare our tenure with them, but we certainly have to question their deeds, he said.
Addressing a press conference after the end of the second day of the Monsoon session of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha, he said that the State Government always ensures strict action against every single complaint received regarding illegal mining. Besides this, the police also seized vehicles involved in illegal mining.
During Congress rule, only 871 FIRs related to illegal mining were registered and Rs 31 crore was collected as a fine whereas during our tenure 2406 FIRs have been registered and a fine of Rs 154 crore has been collected, Khattar said.
He said that SIT has been formed in the unfortunate incident of DSP's death in Nuh. In this case, 12 arrests have been made so far. The police have also seized hundreds of illegal vehicles by conducting a search operation.
Khattar said that a new system of e-Vidhan has been seen in the State's legislative assembly and Haryana Vidhan Sabha has become the third such assembly which has become completely online. MLAs are learning this new system and at present, the Vidhan Sabha is being run through both online and offline modes but from the next assembly session, work will be done completely through the online National e-Vidhan Application (NEVA).
He said that the timing of the Assembly has also been changed in this session. Earlier the sittings of the Assembly used to be from 10 am to 2 pm but this time the House has been conducting its sittings from 11 am to 6 pm. Hence MLAs have got 6 hours to raise their issues, said Khattar. He said that arrangements have also been made for the MLAs in the assembly premises, in which the MLAs can eat lunch by paying Rs 100.
The Chief Minister said that the players of the State have performed brilliantly in the Commonwealth Games. India has won a total of 61 medals, out of which 22 are gold, 16 silver and 23 bronze. Out of these players from Haryana have won a total of 17 medals, including 9 Gold, 2 Silver and 6 Bronze, he said.
"The sports policy of Haryana is commendable. In the Commonwealth Games, the gold medalist will be given a cash prize of Rs 1.50 crore, the silver medalist will be awarded Rs. 75 lakh and the bronze medalist will get Rs. 50 lakh and the player who will come forth will get Rs. 15 lakh. Along with this, an amount of Rs 7.50 lakh will be given to the players participating in the Commonwealth", said the Chief Minister.
The Chief Minister said that the State will claim its share in Panjab University. Due to some reasons, Haryana's share in this University was terminated in the year 1997 but now again the demand for State's share has been made for the students of Haryana, he added. Khattar said that in this regard, the Vidhan Sabha Speaker, Gian Chand Gupta has written a letter to the President. In the meeting of the Northern Zonal Council this issue was also raised and Haryana is ready to pay the full cost of its share in Panjab University.
