Haryana Government is developing a website to maintain records of all the sportspersons in the State. A website is being developed to keep records of sportspersons and on it, sportspersons would also be able to apply for a job as per their qualifications, said Haryana Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Anil Vij on Monday.
He said that the Government would soon pay the cash awards amounting to `70 crore to the medal winners of Asian Games as these were left unpaid by the previous Congress Government.
The Minister said that the date for award giving function would be finalised in consultation with the Chief Minister Manohar lal. He said that the previous Government had only announced cash awards, but did not provide budget for it.
The Minister added that during the award giving function, those who would be honoured include junior hockey players, those of Asian Games and all sportspersons who had participated in National Games in Kerala.
Notably, the State Government had earlier this year announced its sports policy increasing financial help to sportspersons. One winning gold medal in Olympics would now get `6 crore, `4 crore would be given to the winner of silver medal; and `2.5 crore for bronze.
