Haryana constitutes committee on Justice Dhingra report

Published on:

About two weeks after receiving inquiry report from Justice SN Dhingra into the controversial land deals involving Congress chief Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law Robert Vadra in Haryana, the Manohar lal Khattar Government has now swung into action to act against those indicted in the report.

The State Government has constituted a committee to examine the report and is likely to take action against indicted officials in the coming days.

Sources said that a three-members panel has been constituted by the State Government to examine the report. Accordingly, the Government would take action against the senior bureaucrats indicted in the report, said sources.

Following the submission of the inquiry report, the officials in the CMO has so far kept mum on the issue of taking action against those indicted in the report. Keeping in view the involvement of high profile individuals in the controversial land deals probed by the Commission, the State Government has not made the report public so far.

A copy of the Dhingra report has also been sent to the central leadership, said sources.

Justice SN Dhingra, a former judge of the Delhi High Court had pointed out irregularities in grant of licences and land allotment in his 182-page report submitted to the State Government on August 31.

The report, it is reliably learnt, had indicted Bhupinder Singh Hooda's previous Congress Government (2005-2014) for irregularities in grant of licences. The report had also pointed out irregularities in grant of licences and allotment of land to individuals and companies, including Vadra’s companies, in prime areas of Gurgaon.

Dhingra in his report had named several bureaucrats for not following the rules and regulations and distributing land licences in an ad hoc manner during Congress regime.

Though the report is not in the public domain, there are enough indications that the State Government may come down heavily on the officials from - Town and Country Planning department who termed these controversial deals completely legal.

Bhupinder Singh Hooda, who was the Chief Minister when the land deals were signed, has demanded that the Government should make the Dhingra Commission report public soon.

Terming the constitution of the Commission prompted by malice and political considerations, Hooda had accused the Haryana Government of indulging in political vendetta.

The one-man panel was set up by the BJP-led Government last year to probe issues pertaining to grant of development licences to companies including Sky light Hospitality owned by Robert Vadra in Gurgaon’s Sectors 78 to 86.
