Haryana Congress MLAs meet State in-charge Bansal

Haryana Congress MLAs on Thursday met the state in-charge Vivek Bansal in New Delhi to discuss organisational issues and preparations for the upcoming panchayat polls in the state.

About 19 MLAS met the state in-charge and expressed concern over the weak party's organisational structure in Haryana. They urged the state party in-charge to soon appoint partymen on crucial organisational posts that have been lying vacant for over the past six years.

Vivek Bansal, the state in-charge of the party, while talking to the mediapersons said, “Due to COVID-19 pandemic, we had not met in recent times, so we decided to meet the MLAs to take their feedback about the political situation in the state. They have given suggestions related to upcoming panchayat polls and organisational structure, he said.

On whether the party is preparing to contest the panchayat polls on its symbol, Bansal said that this was the first meeting with the MLAs and discussions will be held with more MLAs before taking any decision in this regard.

When asked about appointments in organizational structure in Haryana Congress, he said that the issue has been discussed with the party MLAs and the party is in the process of appointing new district committees in the state to strengthen the organization ahead of panchayat polls.

Since 2014 Lok Sabha polls, the state party unit has been mired in factionalism. At present, there are three prominent groups -- one of former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, another of Congress general secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala and also of state party president Kumari Selja.

Congress, which is the main opposition in Haryana, has a strength of 31 MLAs in the 90-member House.

Former CM attacks Hry Govt over farmers' issues

Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Thursday said that the farmers are forced to sell their crops below MSP in the mandis while the cost of cultivation is sky-rocketing due to the increase in the price of petrol and diesel.

“Maize with an MSP of Rs 1850 is being bought at Rs 1300-1400 per quintal in Haryana. While the government is issuing instructions to farmers to grow maize by leaving paddy, the farmers are not even getting MSP for maize, he alleged

Hooda said the State Government had announced that the ration card holders will get money in their account instead of mustard oil but 11.40 lakh people did not get oil this time nor the financial support.

The former Chief Minister also condemned the use of police force on people in Khori village of Faridabad.
