Haryana Congress unit is in damage control mode after the poll debacle during the recently concluded lok Sabha elections. The party has decided to conduct district level meetings and launch their campaign across the State from June 5.
The Congress high command has taken note of the fact that the party is losing contact with the grass root level party workers and voters gradually. Keeping in view the upcoming assembly elections due for October this year, the state leadership has been asked to formulate appropriate policies to strengthen the party in the State.
Taking a step forward in this direction, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) dissolved all the executive, district and block congress committees on May 28. Even the cells and departments of Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee were asked to prune the ineffective Congress leaders in the state unit.
The party has started convening series of meetings with its various wings in New Delhi to get their suggestions. All the senior leaders of Haryana Congress including Ashok Tanwar, Dr Shakeel Ahmad, Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Asha Kumari has been asked to address the upcoming campaign starting from June 5 in the State.
Ashok Tanwar, state Congress president confirmed this move and said that we will start the campaign from Sonipat on June 5 and will conclude the campaign in Gurgaon on June 28.
The party is scheduled to conduct workers meetings in all the districts of Haryana, besides carrying out discussions with the district level workers and representatives of Panchayati Raj, local Bodies and other public representatives, added Tanwar.
Once these meetings conclude, the party is planning to hold Vidhan Sabha constituency meeting next, which would take place in the month of July followed by special mass contact programme in rural areas.
