Haryana Congress has continued its fratricidal war even after the ugly episode of violent clash between party workers in the national capital in October.
Haryana party chief Ashok Tanwar and former party chief Phool Chand Mullana are now engaged in a war of words after the latter alleged that the State Congress office bearers are not getting their salaries.
Alleging bugling in party funds, Mullana had a day before said that the party’s office bearers are not getting their salaries.
While hitting back at Mullana, Haryana Congress president Ashok Tanwar said that these are baseless statements.
While talking to the mediapersons, Tanwar said that they are not happy as I am fine and have started working after an attack on me in October.
Without naming his rival former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Tanwar said that people who are hiding behind and issuing such statements through others, should come out.
There is no truth in such baseless statements, added Tanwar.
The party also released a statement on the issue stating that salaries to the party members are released on time. It seems that Mullana has lost his mental balance and thus indulging in such rubbish talks, said party’s spokesperson Kuldeep Soni.
Issues related to funds should not be raised on a public platform. Mullana has remained party’s state chief for about seven years and he should think wisely before raising such issued in media instead of talking to the party leaders, said Soni.
He added that an audit is done to keep a check on spending of party’s funds. If Mullana had any doubt about bungling in party’s funds, he should have gone to Congress treasurer Motilal Vora to raise the issue instead of giving statements in media, said Soni.
This is not the first time that the infighting between Haryana Congress leaders has come out in open.
In October, the intense infighting in Haryana unit of Congress had reached a new low when a scuffle between the supporters of Ashok Tanwar and Bhupinder Singh Hooda had resulted in head injuries to Tanwar.
The clash between the supporters of two leaders had taken place during Congress’ vice president Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Bhairon temple in New Delhi to end his month-long Kisan Yatra.
Following this, Tanwar had pointed his finger towards Hooda alleging that his supporters had attacked him on October 6 in the national capital.
Hooda and Tanwar have been at loggerheads for a long time and the bickering had escalated after the Congress was voted out of power in the state with Tanwar holding Hooda directly responsible for the party’s drubbing.
Notably, former Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde was given responsibility to probe the circumstances that led to an attack on Tanwar and people involved in it.
