Haryana Congress holds lS polls review meeting

Ahead of the counting for the lok Sabha elections, Haryana Congress held a review meeting on Wednesday to chalk out the political strategy after the polls and assess preparedness for the Assembly elections to be held later this year. Haryana Congress president Ashok Tanwar,  AICC general secretary and in charge of Haryana affairs Shakeel Ahmed, Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Assistant in charge Asha Kumari, amongst others were present in the meeting.

Some even admitted defeat in the lok Sabha polls and said if that happened, blame would go to infighting in the State unit of the party. Chief Minister  said, “This time, Congress would not win as many seats as it could during 2004 and 2009 elections.” He blamed internal division for this.

He said stern action would be taken against those who worked against the party. Hooda said he would take the meetings of the block-level workers to strengthen party organisation in the State.

However, Rajya Sabha MP Chaudhary Birender Singh said “weak organisation and shortage of issues were the main reasons” for the  weakness of the party in the polls. “Issue based politics was completely ignored at the cost of Caste based politics in these elections. We need review of it,” said Singh.

Shakeel Ahmed, in-charge of Haryana affairs and state congress president Ashok Tanwar assured that action would be taken against those who worked against the interests of the party.
