Haryana Cong takes on BJP over Ateli Village violence

Published on:
Haryana Congress on Friday flayed the BJP Government, led by Manohar lal, for allegedly allowing the communal situation in Ateli village of Ballabhgarh in Faridabad, to flare up again resulting in fresh clashes and injuries to more than half a dozen persons. Communal violence in the village had forced members of a minority community to flee the village about a month ago, said Kiran Choudhry, leader of Haryana Congress legislature Party.
In a statement issued here, the former minister for excise and taxation demanded firm and quick action against the perpetrators of violence in Ateli and adequate compensation for the victims. “More importantly, the Khattar Government should assure members of the minority community that their lives and limbs will be protected by the administration,” she added.
The flare-up in Ateli, together with the attack on the Naya Bazaar church in Bhiwani district, shows that the law-and-order situation has declined to a new low in Haryana. In March only, some miscreants had vandalised an under-construction church in Hisar, she said.
