Haryana Cong demands issues of Govt employees to be addressed

Published on:

Congress has asked the Manohar lal Khattar Government in Haryana to immediately address the issues agitating the State Government employees' and concede their long-pending demands.

“The employees demand include regularisation of temporary employees, benefit of the Seventh Pay Commission report to the left-out sections of staff and pensioners, and equal pay for equal work,” said Kiran Choudhry, leader of the Haryana Congress legislature Party.

In a statement issued here, the former excise and taxation minister said employees under the banner of the Sarv Karamchari Sangh (SKS), affiliated to the Akhil Bharatiya Rajya Sarkari Karamchari Mahasangh, has drawn up plans to intensify their agitation to Press demands by taking out a march to the state Assembly on March 7.

Choudhry rued the fact that repeated assurances not withstanding, nothing had been done at the ground level to fill about seven lakh posts lying vacant in various government departments and organisations, including 50,000 posts of teachers in different schools.

Besides, over three lakh pensioners, one lakh employees of boards and corporations and over 1.5 lakh ASHA and mid-day meal workers have not been given pay commission benefits. One can sense restiveness in the ranks of the SKS which has extended support to the march planned by ASHA and mid-day meal workers on February 28, and to the farmers and agricultural labourers who plan to take out a march on March 8, she added.

Choudhry said that instead of enrolling teachers to fill up vacant posts, the government, playing into the hands of private players, had closed down more than 100 schools all over the state. The Government must act fast to concede the employees’ genuine demands before things slip out of hands, she

demanded.
