Haryana Congress on Tuesday condemned the attack on the Naya Bazaar church in Bhiwani district.Kiran Choudhry, leader of the Haryana Congress legislature Party, termed the incident as a “reprehensible act of anti-social elements” and demanded immediate arrest of the accused and security for the other five local churches which fear similar attacks. In a statement issued here, the former Excise and Taxation Minister said it was in March only that some miscreants had vandalised an under-construction church in Hisar. Within three months, similar attack in Bhiwani betrays total lack of concern of the BJP Government over the law-and-order situation in the state, she remarked.
“Such incidents which are an extension of the deteriorating law-and-order situation in the State nail the oft-repeated claim made by the BJP Government that the law-and-order situation is normal. The reality is that law and order has never been so poor as now under the BJP Government,” she said.Choudhry demanded that urgent steps should be taken to improve the situation, ensure people safety and security, and allow them to profess and propagate their religion.“Bhiwani has never witnessed violence between communities which have always lived in harmony. What has happened now is the result of BJP’s divisible politics,” she alleged.
