Haryana CM's surprise visit to bank

Published on:

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar lal on Sunday appealed to the people to withdraw cash from their bank accounts only as per requirements, and deposit any new currency notes received through trade or sale in the bank, so that other people could withdraw cash as and when needed.

The Chief Minister interacted with the people who were waiting for their turn to deposit or withdraw cash or exchange the demonetised currency notes of `500 and `1,000 during a surprise visit to a branch of Oriental Bank of Commerce in Rohtak on his way to a function at Rajiv Gandhi Sports Complex.

later, while interacting with mediapersons, the Chief Minister said the demonetisation of currency notes was a major step and a large number of new currency notes were required to fill the gap. The Government is working to provide adequate cash to the people and the situation would improve soon. Serving the larger interests of the people is more significant than the inconvenience being faced by them, he added.

Replying to a question, he said that an agreement for Special purpose vehicle scheme had been signed with the Railways under which any state could carry out activities related to the Railways.

This would remove all hindrances in beautification of the railway stations, and projects related to railway overbridges and underbridges.

The Central and State Government would make joint investment under this scheme, said the CM.

Responding to another question about the problems faced by athletes during the state level rural sports competition, he said that such a situation should not have arisen. Orders have been issued for investigations in the matter and the grievances of the athletes would be resolved soon and those found guilty would not be spared, said he.

On SYl canal issue, the Chief Minister said that the people of the state are happy with the judgment of the Supreme Court in the SYl Canal case.
