Haryana Chief Minister Manohar lal on Monday announced to reduce Fuel Surcharge Adjustment (FSA) by 50 to 60 paise with effect from April 1, 2017 thus providing a major relief to the electricity consumers in the State.
While announcing this during the ongoing budget session of Haryana Assembly, Manohar lal said that even earlier, the State Government had reduced the FSA by 37 paise in September 2016, whereas since long no such reduction had been made.
He said that as the State Government has been successful in reducing the cost of power and also line losses and the Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission (HERC) has been urged to further reduce the FSA by 25 to 30 paise from July 2017. However, the current FSA will be levied as per the HERC regulations, said he.
The Chief Minister said that efforts are being made to streamline the entire power system in the state and electricity tariff including FSA would not be raised beyond the level prevailing at the time of signing of the UDAY agreement in March 2016.
