A day after BJP’s impressive show in municipal polls in five cities, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal on Thursday congratulated the newly elected mayors and municipal councillors and directed them to serve the people with the policy of 'Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas' of the government.

The Chief Minister was interacting with the newly elected mayors and councillors, here.

He said that the results of these MC Elections have made it clear that people have appreciated the working of the government, clear intention and the ideology of public service. He said that for the first time in Haryana, direct elections were held to the post of Mayor in which the BJP candidates have won with huge margin.

Manohar Lal said that during elections, an attempt was made to create an atmosphere against the BJP.

“It was said that the affect of result of elections held in other states would be visible in the MC elections. The margin in vote percentage of BJP and Congress in Rajasthan was only 0.5 per cent.

However, the vote percentage of BJP was higher in Madhya Pradesh, yet such an atmosphere was created in the state that these MC elections are semi-final. But as a result of the working of the BJP and hardwork of the party workers, people had shown complete faith in BJP,” Manohar Lal said.

The Chief Minister said that mayors and councillors should humbly accept this victory.

He said that in future by-elections will be held to Jind Vidhan Sabha besides Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections. Therefore, the consistency of victory should be maintained in these elections. For this, the development works should be completed in time-bound manner without any discrimination, he added.

On the occasion, state BJP president, Subhash Barala also congratulated the newly elected mayors and councillors.
