Haryana CM launches Priyadarshini Awaas Yojna, hits out at critics

Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Saturday took strong exception to the assertions made by his detractors within the party or outside by saying that those sitting in air conditioned rooms in Delhi could not see how many plots have been allotted to the beneficiaries belonging to the Scheduled Castes, Backward Classes-A and those living Below the Poverty line  and how many schemes have been implemented for their welfare.

Hooda was speaking at a function in Karnal after launching Priyadarshini Awaas Yojna (PAY) to provide affordable housing facilities to the people in rural areas in the State.

Without naming any of his detractors, Hooda suggested them to personally visit the villages to see for themselves the development taken place in the State.

He said that prior to his Government, the Government of the INlD-BJP remained in power in the State and all are aware that they did nothing for the development of rural areas.

“During their six years tenure, they had spent only Rs1,800 crore on rural development whereas his Government has so far spent more than Rs9,000 crore for the development of rural areas,” he added.

While launching the Priyadarshini Awaas Yojna, Hooda transferred the first installment of Rs25,000 per beneficiary in the bank accounts of 30 beneficiaries through Real Time Gross Settlement (R TGS) system.

Hooda said that under the scheme, two lakh houses would be constructed in the rural areas in a project span of two years. Each of the beneficiaries would be given financial assistance of Rs90,100 by the State as grant for the construction of a new house in three installments.

First installment of Rs25,000 would be released at the time of sanction of grant, second installment of Rs35,000 after completion of the construction upto roof level and the final installment of Rs21,000 would be released on fixing of the doors and windows.

Hooda added that those beneficiaries would be covered under the scheme who are on the waiting-list of Indira Awaas Yojna and have not been given the benefit under it; those who have been allotted 100 sq. yards plots under Mahatma Gandhi Gramin Basti Yojna and have no house or ‘kacha’ house and those who have no house or ‘kacha’ house but have been covered under the above categories.
